Brincadeira havia terminado.

Adulto, findado a brincadeira, sou forçado a correr
A velhice chegou,

Playing football

As a boy, I chased the ball as the ball zigzagged
Through the rocks and the stumps, stumps that
Mercilessly popped the head of my toes, every
Time my toes dared to challenge it. The ball ran,
It rolled on the dusty field and smiled, the ball
Mocked of my innocence, by do not finding
Out that she was my childhood running towards
My teen years.

My teen has arrived in a game which the ball
Plays the rules. The ball ran, it ran away from
My control, a control which I never managed to
Control it. I ran, I dribbled, I pushed, I played
And the ball remained running in front of me
And it never found its way towards my so
Dreamed goal. Dragging over the dust, the ball
Ran like a snake into my adult age which came
Without warn me that the game was over.

Adult, even with the end of games, I am still
Forced to run for the ball but, at this time,
I kick it with care because I no longer find it
Funny to have the fingers of my feet smashed
By the stumps of the life. And the ball keeps
Running but now my legs, weak, can no longer
Keep on. Old age has come over me and my
Game is nearly over, with tired eyes I watch
The ball running away from me and then I hear
The final whistle.

O “daqui a pouco”.
