A indiferença ao descaso, a brutalidade da
força, a frieza da tortura, o açoite, a negação,
a enxovia.
Que disparate, a apatia não é solução,
a obediência cega escraviza e a indiferença
o torna cúmplice!
Desespero!
O chicote, só chicoteia, nada permite.
As vozes, com medo, calam, morrem e o
ódio segue intimidando.
Porque cargas d´águas os viventes aceitam
que lhes calem a voz,
que lhes tolhem sonho?
Os calados sempre foram reféns dos que
falam mas, ainda que vítimas, se não
reagem são cúmplices dos que os calam.

Accomplices
The indifference to the neglect, the brutality of
force, the coldness of torture, flogging, denial,
the humiliation.
What nonsense—apathy is no solution,
blind obedience enslaves, and indifference
makes you an accomplice!
Despair!
The whip only lashes; it allows nothing.
The voices, afraid, fall silent, die, and
hatred continues to intimidate.
Why on earth do the living accept
that their voices be silenced,
that their dreams be stifled?
The silent have always been hostages of those
who speak, but even as victims, if they do not
react, they are accomplices of those who silence them.
