O silêncio dos inocentes - The silence of the innocent

 

Tanto foi dito às escondidas que, acesa as
luzes, todos se sentiram culpados, 

inclusive os que não pediram a palavra .

Não tape o rosto!

O desgosto de haver sido excluído jamais

será maior que a sensação de culpa.

De tudo se falou!

Falou-se de tudo!

Falou-se, inclusive, do que não deveria ter

sido falado.

Terminado o convescote, a culpa saiu às  

ruas em busca do primeiro incauto para

tê-lo por culpado.

Cuida, a culpa veste qualquer um!

A culpa culpa os que falaram, mas a

omissão não inocenta os omissos.

Os  inocentes choram o seu silêncio.

Tanto foi dito às escondidas que agora,

acesa a luz, todos se sentem culpados, 

inclusive os que se mantiveram calados.

The silence of the innocent

So much was said behind closed doors that, once the
lights came on, everyone felt guilty,
even those who hadn't asked to speak .

Don't cover your face!
The disappointment of having been excluded will never
be greater than the feeling of guilt.

Everything was discussed!
Everything was said!
They even talked about what should not have been
talked about.

When the gathering was over, guilt took to the
streets in search of the first unwary person to
blame.
Be careful, guilt can be worn by anyone!

Guilt blames those who spoke, but
omission does not exonerate those who remained silent.
The innocent cry over their silence.

So much was said in secret that now,
with the light on, everyone feels guilty,
even those who remained silent.
