Uma gota d´água. - A drop in the bucket.

A gota caí!

chora.

povoam a minha mente, então me desespero.

A drop in the bucket.

A drop of water plummets from the sky, hurling itself as
if it had been pushed, expelled from its home, and falls.
The drop falls!
The drop falls and dies, dies in the same way that,
one day, I, too, will die.
With a smile, the drop of water disappears into the
earth that drinks it in, quenching its thirst.

A tear falls from my eyes
as if it shouldn’t be there.
It falls.
The tear falls, hits the ground, hurts itself, and
cries.
It cries, wetting the earth that absorbs it.
The ground drinks my tears with the same
eagerness that drunkards drink from their glasses.

A drop of “thought” falls from the thoughts that
populate my mind, and so I despair.
In despair, I hope that calm which watches,
from afar, my agony will return to choose the
thoughts I can “let go of.”
A drop of “me” falls from who I am, and I am left
alone.
Alone, I feel like a sob stuck in
a throat on the verge of crying.

A drop plummets from my sins and moans
with pleasure as it revels in its false freedom.
Poor thing!
It forgets its pains all too quickly.
I’m going!
I went where I abandoned my good thoughts,
believing they could turn into the
very sins I rejected, and then a drop
of water falls.
